April Social Ministry
HARRT lambs for families
HARRT - the Helena Area Refugee Resettlement Team – is the local chapter of Hands on
Global, an organization that works collaboratively with under-served and refugee communities. HARRT is the designated organization to benefit from the social ministry contributions during April.
HARRT currently provides support for 49 refugees, members of several families from Afghanistan and one family from the Congo. Adult members of these families are working and their children are attending school. Federal support for refugees – SNAP and Medicaid - have been eliminated. Three of the Afghan families and the Congolese family no longer have protected status. These families have initiated the green card application process and the costs associated with obtaining permanent residency are high. Financial support for these families from the community is essential and St John's can assist by supporting HARRT. Thank you for being generous in your support of social ministry concerns.
